Conditions of participation
Deutsche Bank and Art-Invest Real Estate present "MAKE ART. Your Sculpture for Berlin." Artists and art enthusiasts are invited to submit a design for a sculpture in an open competition and to participate in a two-stage selection procedure.
Based on an initial jury decision (shortlist), the prize-winning design will be announced in January 2016 and then realized. The permanent installation of the sculpture on Otto-Suhr-Allee in Berlin is planned for fall of 2016.
The designs can be submitted on November 5 and 6 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Charlottenstrasse 37/38, 10117 Berlin. There are no thematic specifications, and three-dimensional models made of any material (max. 50x50x50 cm) as well as accompanying drawings and concept papers can be submitted. All designs will then be presented in an exhibition.
The exhibition will be open to the public on November 7, 2015, starting at 12 o'clock noon for 24 hours at Deutsche Bank Unter den Linden in Berlin.
An expert jury made up of Katharina Grosse (artist), Christoph Tannert (Künstlerhaus Bethanien), Friedhelm Hütte (Global Head of Art, Deutsche Bank), and Dr. Markus Wiedenmann (Art-Invest Real Estate) will announce a shortlist at the end of the exhibition that forms the basis for selecting the prize-winning design.
Each participant whose design is nominated to the shortlist will receive prize money of 1,000 euros.
In addition, all visitors of the show can evaluate the exhibited designs. The design with the most votes is automatically included in the shortlist.
The minimum age for participating in the exhibition and the competition is 18.
Any recourse to courts of law is excluded.
The procedure takes place as an open, two-stage idea competition without a limitation of participants for a sculpture to be realized in Berlin. The first stage of the selection procedure consists in receiving and exhibiting all submitted designs as well as the nomination of a shortlist by an expert jury at the end of the exhibition. In the second stage, the nominated designs are then assessed in regard to their viability in a non-public procedure and then presented to the jury for a renewed decision. In January 2016, the design to be realized and permanently installed will then be finally announced. The participant whose design is to be realized agrees that Deutsche Bank AG will have the design produced as a sculpture.
Costs for the work and material required by the participant to produce the design are not assumed by the organizer.
The costs for realizing the prize-winning design are assumed by Deutsche Bank, who will coordinate the production of the sculpture in close cooperation with the artist. With its installation, the sculpture is incorporated in the Deutsche Bank Collection and owned by Deutsche Bank AG.
Participation in the competition is free of charge.
Disclaimer of liability
Deutsche Bank is not liable for possible damages to or the loss of the submitted designs (model, sketches). The participant expressly agrees that, if required by the state of the submitted material (sketches, diagrams etc.), nails, pins, thumbtacks, and/or tape may be used for the purpose of presenting the design.
In case the submitted materials are lost or damaged, Deutsche Bank AG's liability is limited to the amount of payments made by insurances concluded for such cases, particularly payments for damages.
With the participation form, the participant agrees that his or her work will be publicly displayed on November 7 and 8 in the atrium of Deutschen Bank (Unter den Linden 13/15, 10117 Berlin) and may be photographed by Deutsche Bank for press purposes and published online (Website, social media).
The presentation of the submitted design cannot be bindingly assured. In addition, Deutsche Bank reserves the right to reject or refuse the presentation of designs with discriminating, pornographic, and/or violence-glorifying depictions.
From participating in the procedure and being nominated for the shortlist, no claim can be made toward Deutsche Bank AG and Art-Invest Real Estate to realize the design.
The submitted design can be collected again immediately after the end of the exhibition upon presenting the receipt document on November 8, 2015, from 12 to 8 p.m.. Storage after the specified period of time cannot be guaranteed.
